Sophia is a Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and nurse with a strong background in pediatrics. She began her healthcare journey in 2010 and has since dedicated her career to supporting families through pregnancy, postpartum, and the breastfeeding journey. With over a decade of experience working with diverse families of all cultures and backgrounds, Sophia is passionate about providing inclusive, compassionate, and evidence-based care.
As both a healthcare professional and a mother of four daughters, each of whom she breastfed for two years, Sophia understands firsthand the challenges and triumphs of breastfeeding. Her own struggles fueled her calling to become a lactation consultant and inspired her to create Relatable Lactation in 2022. She believes this work is her life’s purpose: empowering parents with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to nourish their babies in the healthiest way possible.
Sophia specializes in identifying how breast and skin concerns can present differently across various skin tones, ensuring that all families receive accurate assessments and guidance. She also takes pride in making lactation care accessible and affordable, especially for underserved communities across North Carolina. As a proud member of the North Carolina Breastfeeding Coalition, she advocates for equity in maternal and infant health while supporting families through in-home and virtual lactation consultations.
